They say that it only takes one couple dancing to get the ball rolling on the dance floor – but how about what gets things jumping in the bedroom? For some, it's booze, little blue pills & the allure of the cuddle puddle; for others it's that troublemaker who tango’ed you round to the rhythm of the night. On February 16th, 6 uniquely sex-positive storytellers will climb onto the Uptown NiteClub's stage to share their own inspired indiscretions, and name the Catalyst that propelled them onward and upward.
This month in Oakland, Bawdy (the social lubricant to your emotional dinner party) brings you tales of sparkplugs, stimulants, and the art of getting that party started. Dixie De La Tour, founder of Bawdy Storytelling, is equal parts educator, entertainer, and irreverent host. Drawing on the rich storytelling lore of the Blue Ridge Mountains she once called home, Dixie made her way to the Bay Area and founded San Francisco’s "blue personal narrative" movement. Dubbed ‘the Grande Dame of Dirty Storytelling,’ Dixie has turned curated salon storytelling into an art form by providing guidance and encouragement while serving as Bawdy’s stage mom, talent scout, and talk show host. In addition to being a well-regarded writer, Dixie is a former producer of Fireside Storytelling and Memoir Spool, and continues to perform on a regular basis.
